Flight Management Systems is excited to announce that the FMS Moving Map is now capable of being coupled to most IR Gimbal Sensors, to allow “hands free” gimbal control. Our partner Logistic Concepts Inc has provided the expertise to bring FMS to the next level.

FLIR Coupling features include:

  • Slave Gimbal street address
  • Slave Gimbal to Lat / Long coordinates
  • Slave Gimbal to ridicule position on ground
  • Display Lat / Long coordinates of Line of Sight intersection with ground
  • Display situational awareness on monitor with target Lat /Long, optional Platform Lat long, Gimbal relative position, Target relative position.
  • Windows based sensor control system or embedded Peripheral Interface Unit (PIU) for Gimbal interface to sensor systems.
  • Optional IMU or INS interface.
  • Optional Ethernet interface Note: the system pointing precision is dependent on the pointing precision of the Gimbal.

Recent FMS Mapping Enhancements:

  • Fire Enhancement
This enhancement allows the operator to visually click the perimeter of the fire, flood or any area of interest, and the selected area is immediately shaded and the area displayed. This gives air crews an immediate size to pass along to ground crews, and allows saving to a file for later downloading, debrief and analysis. If the aircraft is equipped, the file can also be down-linked to command centers in real time for analysis.
FMS will also retain a file of the flight, for print out. There is provision to allow the operator to click on “hot spots” and add a quick note for reference.
All of these maps are available for download through a USB device and can be used in any GIS ESRI based software or viewed with a copy FMS on the ground.
More accurate information allows better planning and the added safety of not having to fly through the dangerous downwind smoke to get GPS readings of the perimeter.

  • GIS Data Collection
Multiple addresses can be collected and saved as a text or shape file, for use by GIS departments, Police departments, or Fire departments. Use of this data is only limited by your imagination. Data can be easily exported for use in any County ESRI/GIS software.
Data can also be imported into the FMS system to show additional information. Eg: Known Weapons Offenders, Phone number of residence, Registered owner, etc.
  • Below the Surface Information
Underwater information like oyster beds, no fishing zones, and underwater obstructions can all be displayed with GIS data.
Underground information like gas pipelines, water pipelines, electrical lines, can also be displayed with GIS data.
  • Temporary Obstructions
Temporary Obstructions can be added on the fly. Things like construction cranes, towers, new high rises, or anything that could be a safety hazard can be created in the map and displayed.
  • Fleet Management Systems
FMS software can be installed in vehicle laptops and used as a stand alone moving map. FMS can also be used in Dispatch Centers to plot vehicle locations in real time, to assist with efficient use of available resources.
